Early 1960s. “Vostok” is the first Soviet space program to put a cosmonaut into Earth’s orbit. Irina, the crew member of the space capsule, communicates by orbiting the Earth with Nikolai, the radar operator from the command center to Vladivostok. The flight is fully automatic and the capsule’s control panel is locked, so contact with the Earth is limited to simple protocol checks of the cosmonaut’s vital signs.
